Congratulations Quest Crew!!!

Yeah so I’m a big fan of MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew. I used to breakdance back in my days and I always loved the feeling of battling with other dance crews. Whether it be at school, a party, or the club, the feeling of a crowd cheering when you blow their minds with your performance was priceless. I would even carry battery powered speakers in my backpack along with my walkman everywhere we went to either battle someone on the street or just have a session at some random place. Watching this show and especially this season brings me back to those feelings. I always wanted to improve on my craft to make sure I always got that praise and respect. It was very hard work. Back in the days dance battles were never broadcasted on television. It was hard finding inspiration for our style of dance because we didn’t have YouTube or the internet to see who was the best dancers in the world. We got our inspiration and motivation from watching old movies such as Beat Street, Breakin, etc. Every once in awhile we would watch other crews by watching VHS tapes of recorded battles. The video quality was so bad from it being recorded from tape to tape that we had to have someone stand by the VCR to adjust the tracking every couple of seconds. But it still moved us to see other dancers perform from around the world. And boy did it piss me off when someone would steal my videos and never give them back because you knew it would be very hard to acquire that footage again.
This season was the “Superbowl” of all dance battles that I’ve ever witnessed. Both Beat Freaks and Quest Crew are amazing dancers. Even though Beat Freaks didn’t take the win, they inspired a lot of women. Nobody has ever seen an all female crew perform the way they did. I was blown away by how well they danced and really looked like men when it came to pulling of stunts. The whole season I was mixed between both crews on who I thought would win. But last week Quest showed they were hungry and wanted it bad. They were mind blasting performances. Yes that’s right mind BLASTING not mind blowing! So I had to go for Quest because I felt their passion to win this battle. Even though many people have mixed feelings about who should’ve won, I believe it didn’t matter who took the win because they’ve made this battle the most memorable battle ever and they have made a tremendous impact in the dance world.
