Salmon Fishing at the Puyallup River.

One thing I truly love about the Northwest is fishing. Especially salmon fishing! I don’t get how people say they’re bored of this state when we have a decent night life, and a great outdoor life.  Washington has so much to offer but yet a lot of people just stick to doing one thing. There’s more to life than just partying it up. I like to keep my balance between both. I like to experience as much of this place as I can.  Well here are some photos and videos of my latest outdoor adventures…

Our catch from today.

Here’s a vid of our fishing trip today at the Puyallup River. We were only there for 2 hours. As soon as we got there we were catching the salmon like crazy. They were biting over there too. This was our first time at this river and people around us were getting frustrated because we kept hooking onto the fish. They were asking what we were using, if we were using a scent or what technique we were doing but we don’t even fish that much. All we used was 6foot 20lb test line, a hook, yarn, and corky. Feel for the bumps from the fish, then set the hook, and that’s it. We also almost saw a fight between two fisherman. I don’t know, but every time I’ve hit a river, it’s always the drunk rednecks who haven’t caught a damn thing that act like they own the river and start shit. Folks just can’t enjoy a peaceful time fishing without any drama.

Pimped Out Ice Cream Truck Part 2

Remember my post about the Ice Cream Man? (click here) Well over the weekend I found him parked at Spanaway Lake Park hittin switches.  I took some photos of it with my G1 up close…

This was a random video that I found on YouTube.

I don’t knock on this guy’s hustle. If you’re going to get into business with anything, always do something that will be unique and stick out. I’m pretty sure this guy makes more money than your average ice cream man…well atleast in the summertime.
But Mister Cartoon’s ice cream truck kills all…

Angrywoebots

_MG_3087

Angrywoebots a.k.a. Aaron Martin, was born and raised in Hawaii. But has also lived in southern California, Nevada, and Seattle. Aaron got into painting pandas on accident. He did live paintings at shows and one day he was supposed to paint a grizzly bear but only had black and white paint. So he decided to paint a panda and people went crazy. Due to the obsession over the pandas, he continued painting them. You would think paintings of pandas would sooner or later get boring.  But I am still intrigued by his work.  He paints pandas out of their usual soft cuddly image, and presents them as disgruntled and angry. Cool Window phone simulates the weather.

(taken from CNET)

A better predictor might be this innovative Window Phone (not to be confused with the Windows phone). The translucent touch-screen device by designer Seunghan Song promises accurate weather predictions. But especially excellent is that it would simulate the current climate on its display with, say, a clear screen on a sunny day, virtual drops on a rainy day, and a frosty veneer when it snows.

You’ll note from the photos that the concept phone doesn’t have any keys; images show a user blowing on it to switch the phone into handwriting mode for dialing and messaging. The blowing could get tiresome pretty quick, and we have some other questions as well (will the battery obscure the sleek, transparent design? where will real-time, accurate data come from?). Overall, though, we think this is a very cool design–even on a hot day.

Don’t bother searching online or eBay for this phone. It’s just a concept….for now…

Cobra Kai Sashimi

You know that saying white boys are crazy? Well my friend Phillip is one of those crazy white boys.  He’s down to try any exotic foods from what I’ve seen. I even had him try Balut which is a Filipino dish which is a cooked duck embryo. He actually liked it.  I love balut despite what others say about it.  I really believe people think to much about their food when trying things which grosses them out.  Not saying that I’m down to try anything exotic.  I cross the line when it comes to rodents and insects.  But I’m down to try anything else….atleast that’s what I tell myself.

Well just recently Phillip visited Vietnam and decided to try fresh cobra.  I don’t know if the sound track makes this viewing experience more comforting, but shit now I have to man up and give it a try one day….or not.

Cobra Kai from directfrommylens on Vimeo.

Editing: FCP in about 15 crappy minutes.

BTW-The guy baggin up the cobra in the beggining has some nice jeans on. Business must be good.

Jonas’s Boatday Party…

Last night my good friend Jonas threw his birthday party on an Argosy Cruise boat. If you wasn’t there, you missed out.  We all had a great time.  Here’s a little vid from last night.  Sorry for the poor quality.  I’ll have a real camera in the future.  Happy birthday Jonas!

Apple Tablet?

Gizmodo reports that the device will have a 10 inch screen, and will have the same black resin back and the familiar home button as an iPhone. It will come in two editions, one with a webcam and one for educational use (whatever that means). To justify the extra cost, the Tablet may be used as a secondary screen for iMacs and MacBooks. It’s unclear when it might be ready, but it seems it could be timed with this holiday season.
