Freddie Roach x Me
.
So I get a call from my sister and she tells me she’s at Emerald Queen Casino and Freddie Roach and George Foreman is there. So my reaction is like WTF is he doing in Tacoma? Freddie Roach was training one of the boxers that was fighting that night for the Battle at the Boat 75 The Anniversary Show. So I wanted to go to the fight but I guess it was to late and I was bummed. So I got undressed and ready for bed disappointed.
.
So later my sister calls back and says she met him and his assistant so I ask if they would like some free tees I designed and that I wanted to meet him! So she says she’ll try and will call me back. At the same time I was thinking I was talking out of my ass because I thought this guy wasn’t going to meet me for some t-shirts since he probably gets hundreds of them from fans. So then my sister calls back and says they’re eating dinner and Freddie Roach is tired and wants to go to bed and I better hurry up and get my ass over there so I can give him some tees and meet him! I toss my clothes on and grab my wife and take off!
.
I get to the casino and the security guard checks my ID and asks, “What’s those tees in your hand?” I tell him they’re Pacquiao tees I designed and show him. He says he wants one, and I said I can’t sell you these because they’re for Freddie Roach and the rest of his team. He was bummed. So I head towards the restaurant to meet up with Freddie and they come down the elevator. There he his with his entourage along with my sister and her friend. I shake his hand and I tell him this moment really meant a lot to me and handed him my recent Pacquiao Victory tees and showed him the Victory flip. You should’ve seen the reaction on his face. He really liked that extra flip. I also gave him my very first Glow-In-The-Dark Pacquiao tee I did years ago. But he said something that made me laugh. “Hey some guy gave me that same shirt in Vegas.” I laugh and told him that guy stole my design and was reselling it on the streets. This is the original. (For those of you who do not know what I’m talking about click HERE.) I gave him some of my business cards and let him know that if he wanted anymore shirts from me to hit me upbecause I’m SOLD OUT and he just took the last of them. Man today was one of the happiest days in my life!

R.I.P. Miguel Cotto Sr.
The father of former World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Miguel Cotto Jr. of Puerto Rico reportedly passed away on Sunday.
Elnuevodia.com, a media outlet in Puerto Rico, reported that Miguel Cotto Sr. died from a heart attack while driving in his hometown of Caguas.
Police said Cotto stopped his car along the road to San Lorenzo and asked for help while carrying an oxygen tank.
The 57-year-old Cotto was said to have long been suffering from heart problems and asthma.
“We know he had several ailments and he had an oxygen machine on when he got out of his car for help. It is believed he died of a heart attack. When the ambulance arrived, he was already dead,” Caguas police officer Emily Rodriguez told Elnuevodia.com.
Local media in Puerto Rico reported that Douglas Melendez, a young bartender, was the last person to see Cotto Sr. alive.
“I did not know he was the father of Miguel Cotto. He asked me to call an ambulance and I called,” Melendez told Elnuevodia.com.
Melendez claimed that he called 911 more than 4 times but the ambulance never came. He said the elder Cotto passed away at around 3:15 p.m. on Sunday.
Cotto Sr.’s body was reported to be lifted at around 4 p.m., and was moved to the Institute of Forensic Sciences for autopsy purposes.
His son, meanwhile, asked for time to mourn for his family’s loss.
“We appreciate all of the tokens of affection and sympathy. It is a very painful moment for me and my entire family. I hope that everyone respect our request for space to overcome this difficult moment,” Cotto Jr. was quoted as saying at Boxingscene.com.
